ELGA Credit Union opens its doors in Grand Blanc

FENTON, MI (April 30, 2021) — Despite the challenging year facing our community due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ELGA Credit Union (ELGA) celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its 14th branch location on Friday, April 23rd. The Grand Blanc, Mich. branch has been the $1.1 billion dollar credit union’s most requested location for the past 20 years, and is the first part of a two-part project on the property. ELGA expects to open its new headquarters at the same
location in the first quarter of 2022.

“We’re finally here and excited to be opening our doors to the Grand Blanc community,” said Karen Church, ELGA CEO. “After 20 years of member requests and 5 years of searching, we knew this property was the perfect spot for our new branch and headquarters.”

In addition to opening the new branch, ELGA is celebrating another banner year in supporting the community. Associates continued volunteering, supporting organizations with more than 3,500 volunteer hours. The credit union provided more than $250,000 in monetary support to community based organizations and non-profits. ELGA stepped up to the plate quickly to secure more than 700 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans for member businesses, infusing the local economy with $37 million and saving local jobs.

“We have supported the Grand Blanc community for quite some time, despite not having a branch here,” said Terry Katzur, Executive Vice President for ELGA. “With the opening of our newest branch and the anticipated opening of our new HQ in 2022, I’m happy to know that we’ll be making an even bigger impact, specifically for the local businesses in our new neighborhood.”

Safety was top of mind during the event. Attendees enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors and were treated to live music from Jazz on Wheels, and boxed lunches were provided to ensure the highest safety standards.
