Emery Federal Credit Union is proud to share the success of its Emery Pillow Fight, an internal employee competition that resulted in the collection of 1,000 pillows for New Life Furniture Bank. Through teamwork, community involvement, and friendly competition, employees came together to make a tangible difference in the lives of families transitioning out of homelessness.
New Life Furniture Bank, a Cincinnati-based nonprofit that furnishes homes for individuals and families in need, will distribute the donated pillows to help provide comfort and restore dignity to those starting over. Emery Federal Credit Union has always been committed to supporting the local community, and this initiative is another example of its dedication to making a meaningful impact.
“The credit union movement is built on the philosophy of ‘people helping people,’ and our employees truly embraced that spirit during this initiative,” said Shelly O’Neill, COO at Emery Federal Credit Union. “A pillow may seem small, but to someone rebuilding their life, it means comfort and security. Heather Voit, VP of Advancement at New Life Furniture Bank, emphasized the importance of beds and pillows in improving overall well-being. “A good night’s sleep is essential for mental health, the ability to focus at work or school, and most importantly, it provides dignity,” Voit said. “Thanks to Emery Federal Credit Union and its employees, 1,000 individuals will have a better opportunity to rest and rebuild their lives.”

The Emery Pillow Fight wasn’t just a donation drive – it was a spirited internal competition. Employees were placed on teams and competed to gather the most donations, turning the challenge into an engaging and rewarding experience.
