Frankenmuth, MI (December 16, 2024) |
Frankenmuth Credit Union (FCU) is delighted to celebrate 60 years of serving its members and the community. Founded December 12, 1964, with a mission to be “people helping people”, FCU has grown from humble beginnings in an 8’ x 8’ room inside the Carling Brewery into a cornerstone of financial empowerment in 27 communities throughout Mid-Michigan.
The credit union celebrated this exciting milestone by hosting the Frankenmuth and Saginaw County Chambers of Commerce after hours at their Uptown North Main Event and Banquet Center on the evening of Thursday, December 12, 2024. Attendees reflected on 60 years of growth and the relationships with individuals and businesses within the community which have made FCU’s journey possible.
“Our once small financial cooperative has been extremely blessed over the past 60 years. We have received incredible support from our community every step along the way. We also owe a great deal of our success as an organization to our incredible volunteer Board of Directors and our dedicated staff who work tirelessly to provide the best experience possible to our members. This 60 years has been nothing short of magnificent, and we look forward to what the future holds for us at Frankenmuth Credit Union,” stated Vickie Schmitzer – CEO of Frankenmuth Credit Union.
The event also featured meaningful donations to six local charities. FCU staff raised $28,048 at their annual Hope Tree Auction on Columbus Day. These funds were divided between CAN Council, Covenant Kids, Light the Night, Love For A Child, Underground Railroad, and Wellspring Lutheran Foundation Bethesda. Six lucky attendees also left with money of their own after having their name drawn to enter the FCU money blower which was stocked with $1,964 in honor of the year of FCU’s founding. Renowned local artists Stephen Hargash and Billy Budd rounded out the evening by encouraging attendees to add their very own brush strokes to Stephen’s commemorative painting featuring the FCU logo on a traditional Black Label beer in front of the old Carling Brewery.
