Filene Research Institute names next generation of credit union leaders set to crash GAC

Newly formed America’s Credit Unions enables advocacy for industry’s young professionals

MADISON, WIS (February 1, 2024) — Filene Research Institute is excited to announce the newest group of elite emerging credit union leaders to participate in The Cooperative Trust’s award-winning Crash program at this year’s Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington D.C. While this year marks the 15th “Crash the GAC” event, it is the first to be hosted by America’s Credit Unions.

The event scheduled to take place March 3 – 7 brings together industry leaders and advocates to discuss critical issues facing the credit union landscape. America’s Credit Unions generously covers the registration costs for 51 Crashers to attend the nation’s largest credit union event, presenting a tremendous opportunity for these young professionals to attend. The Cooperative Trust is thrilled to bring along seven additional Crashers who were sponsored by their credit unions.

The 2024 Crash the GAC delegation comprises 58 talented credit union professionals from across the country who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the credit union movement. These emerging leaders have played pivotal roles within their credit unions and have shown a commitment to advancing the values and principles that define the industry.

“Congratulations to this year’s class of GAC Crashers! We’re excited to welcome this engaged group of young credit union professionals to strengthen our industry’s representation in Washington as we come together for the first time as America’s Credit Unions,” said America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Jim Nussle. “Attendees will have plenty to experience at this premiere advocacy event, from expert analysis on economic trends and regulatory impacts to hiking to Capitol Hill and speaking directly with lawmakers on the issues credit unions and their members care about. We welcome all to unforgettable networking opportunities and empowering advocacy efforts that will position them for future success.”

America’s Credit Unions was legally formed Jan. 1 – by the merger of Credit Union National Association and the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions – to provide a strong, united voice to advance the credit union industry.

Highlights and Testimonials from 2023 Crash the GAC:
