Financial Center recognized as a 2024 Best Place to Work in Indiana

Local credit union prioritizes fulfillment, belonging and happiness for employees

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (March 4, 2024)Financial Center is thrilled to announce its recent recognition as one of the 2024 Best Places to  Work in Indiana. This accolade, awarded by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, displays the Credit Union’s  commitment to not only being an exceptional place to bank, but also an exceptional place to work.

For the nearly 200 team members of the Indianapolis-based Credit Union, their employee experience is centered  around three key principles instilled by its President and CEO, Cam Minges – fulfillment, belonging, and happiness.  “When these three basic principles are met,” Minges explains, “then the vibrant culture that we’re working to build simply  creates itself.”

With employees spending a great amount of their waking hours at work, Minges and the Financial Center Executive  Team have invested significant energy and resources in building a values-based culture. After establishing the core  values of caring, listening, learning, solving, and acting, there has been a focused internal effort encouraging employees  to not only deliver on these values to the nearly 70,000 members of the Credit Union – but to their coworkers, too.

“Our recognition as one of Indiana’s best places to work directly reflects that the values we created are being put to  work by prioritizing the employee experience, which translates into unparalleled service to our members.” explains  Minges.

Frances Tooley, SVP of Employee Operations, adds, “We’ve seen incredible engagement and growth in bringing our  values to life. For instance, our employees chose to give public praise to one another for going above and beyond more  than 600 times last year through our new employee feedback tool.” The Credit Union also notes that it has worked to  improve benefits that matter most to its employees, including improving its 401(k) match, offering paid volunteer time  off, paid professional development training and tuition reimbursement, and supporting hybrid work arrangements which  have led to cultural growth and excitement for what’s ahead.

Indiana Chamber President and CEO Vanessa Green Sinders highlighted the impact of this award, explaining, “the  honored companies offer a blueprint for employee attraction and retention, and we are excited to celebrate their  success. We hope the values and strategies on display in their workplaces can serve as models for other Indiana  employers as we work together to address Indiana’s talent pipeline needs.”

For Financial Center, it all comes back to a values-based culture. “These values are not just words on a wall; they are the living, breathing essence of who we are and how we work. They serve as guideposts in every decision we make,”  Minges remarked. “I humbly thank our employees who have the courage to tell us every day what we need to do to  provide them with the tools, resources, and cultural environment that keeps them passionate about what they do, where  they work, and how we serve members.”

The final rankings of the Best Places to Work in Indiana will be announced at an awards ceremony on May 8, where  Financial Center joins five additional Indiana credit unions on the 2024 list.
