Financial Partners Credit Union donates to local communities

Community involvement leads to increased member engagement

DOWNEY, CA (August 31, 2016) — Financial Partners Credit Union sponsored Rocket Fever, Los Angeles’ only urban Rocket Festival, at Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey, CA on Aug. 20. And on Aug. 27, the Downey, CA-based credit union held a member appreciation day, inviting members to a free “Shred and E-waste” collection day.

These events are just two of many the credit union has sponsored or held in the past few years—a demonstration of its commitment to being involved with the communities it serves.

Financial Partners’ involvement with the Columbia Memorial Space Center is due to its sharing a rich history with the center. The credit union was founded nearly 80 years ago to serve aerospace employees.

This kind of community involvement has led to increased member engagement.

“Our community outreach efforts have helped to build loyalty and trust not only with our members, but also with the residents of the communities we serve,” said Financial Partners Credit Union President and CEO Nader Moghaddam.

In 2015, the credit union participated in more than 60 sponsor-company and community events, and delivered more than 155 financial seminars. Financial Partners supported Children’s Miracle Network by volunteering and fundraising for Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Children’s Hospital of LA, and Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

And this year, in July, a team from the credit union volunteered in San Diego at a Stand Down event, offering free credit reviews and scores as well as providing advice on how to establish or re-establish their credit. At the event, veterans could take the information directly to the family court (held onsite) to receive help with medical collections, etc.  They also could receive other assistance, such as haircuts, medical and dental services, and employment counseling. More than 12,000 meals were served by veteran’s service organizations, service clubs, local chefs, and businesses.
