Firemen’s Federal Credit Union awards $8,000 in scholarships

METAIRIE, LA (July 2, 2017) — Firemen’s Federal Credit Union is excited to announce the recipients of the 2017 Reaching New Heights Educational Grant Awards.

Firemen’s FCU awarded eight, $1,000 educational scholarships to well deserving students who showed outstanding merit both personally and academically throughout their school career. The criterion was based on academic merit, current enrollment or acceptance in a four year college, and active membership with Firemen’s Federal Credit Union. Each student was asked to write an essay explaining their career goals, meaningful extracurricular activities, and what financial products or services would best serve young adults.

The credit union hosted a luncheon to honor the winners and present the scholarship awards. The recipients of the 2017 Reaching New Heights Education Grant are:

Miranda Alphonso, Mandeville, LA graduated from Lakeshore High School, will be attending University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Lula Ball, Bogalusa, LA  graduated from Bogalusa High School, will be attending Southeastern  University.

Anthony Gallodoro, Jr., Picayune, MS graduated from Pearl River Central High, will be attending University of Mississippi.

Jenna Faucheaux, Lutcher, LA graduated from Lutcher High School, will be attending Canisius University.

Haley Seidel, Slidell, LA graduated from Northshore High School, will be attending Louisiana State University.

Allie Sigur, Metairie, LA graduated from Haynes Academy will be attending University of Alabama.

Alexis Kiger, Larose, LA graduated from South Lafourche High School will be attending Nicholls State University.

Jone’ya Thompson, New Orleans, LA is currently attending Louisiana State University.
