Firemen’s Federal’s Copeland named 2023 NAFCU Professional of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, LA (August 24, 2023) — New Orleans, LA (August 22, 2023) – Kym Copeland, Senior Development Officer of New Orleans Firemen’s Federal Credit Union, was chosen as Professional of the Year by the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU). Copeland and other winners of NAFCU’s 2023 Annual Awards Competition will be honored during NAFCU’s Congressional Caucus in Washington, D.C., Sept. 10-13.

“Copeland’s dedicated efforts are reflected in the continued success of New Orleans Firemen’s Federal Credit Union, demonstrating thoughtful leadership skills, as well as developing new ideas that benefit our organization’s growth,” said Firemen’s Federal CEO Judy DeLucca. “This award reflects her exemplary services on behalf of our members.”

“The 2023 award winners are dedicated stewards of the credit union mission and NAFCU is honored to recognize them for their exceptional representation of the industry,” said NAFCU Awards Committee Chair Eli Vazquez, CEO of Bank-Fund Staff Federal Credit Union. “Over the past year, they went above and beyond for their members and have had a remarkable impact on their communities. The NAFCU Awards Committee is proud of their contributions to the success and strength of the industry.”

This year’s NAFCU Annual Awards Competition honored eight winners in total and was selected by a committee of credit union leaders. Nominees for CEO of the Year, Credit Union of the Year, Professional of the Year and Volunteer of the Year were judged in two categories: credit unions with assets of more than $500 million and those with assets of $500 million or less. Copeland was a winner among credit unions with $500 million or less in assets.

In addition to being formally recognized during Caucus, Annual Awards Competition winners will also be profiled in the September-October edition of The NAFCU Journal magazine.
