First Capital FCU awards two Dennis Flickinger Honorable Scholarships to members!

First Capital Federal Credit Union is proud to announce that Ellen Lippy and Caitlin Baer are the winners of 2021 Dennis Flickinger Honorable Scholarships. Ellen Lippy was presented with a check for $1,000 and Caitlin Baer was presented a check for $500.

“It’s great to be able to award this scholarship money to Ellen and Caitlin to help them further their education after High School,” said Sue DeStephano, President/CEO. “They both have very bright futures ahead in their respective fields.”

Ellen attends Eastern York High School. She is heading to Penn State University this fall to pursue a degree in Nursing and is interested in working in labor and delivery or emergency medicine. Ellen is the Class of 2021 Treasurer, and is involved in Student Council, Interact Club, Varsity Club, National Honor Society, and the Dollars for Scholars Board.

Caitlin attends Northeastern Senior High School. She is headed to Eckerd College in the fall to pursue a dual major in Marine Science and Spanish. Her goal after graduation is to work at a rescue, rehab, and release facility. Caitlin is involved in Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and the Math Honor Society.

The First Capital scholarship program was renamed the Dennis Flickinger scholarship program in 2016 to honor our former CEO, Dennis Flickinger, who retired in 2015. Dennis advocated for financial education in schools and worked tirelessly to promote Credit Unions as a better choice for their financial future.
