Fairhaven, MA – August 16, 2012 – First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the recipients of its 20th Annual Academic Scholarship Program. A $1,000 scholarship was awarded to twelve local high school students from its branch communities across the Southcoast and Cape Cod.
In addition to the nine general scholarships, one scholarship, in honor of Barbara Whitehead Silva, former President and CEO of the credit union, is awarded. The remaining two scholarships are the Champion Family Scholarship. The Champion Account is designed to recognize teachers, EMT, police, firefighters and healthcare professionals for their outstanding service to our communities. The two scholarships are awarded exclusively to the immediate family of these members. Each scholarship is awarded to deserving students every year who demonstrated a high level of academic excellence, leadership, and service to their community. “It is an honor to be able to recognize these outstanding young men and women for their academic achievements and community involvement” said Peter Muise, President and CEO. “We wish them well and look forward to their continued success in the pursuit of their goals and dreams.”
