First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union has surpassed $1 billion in assets at the end of 2021, a significant milestone in the credit union’s 60+ year history. To celebrate, First Commonwealth has launched a “Year of Giving” campaign and will invest $100,000 back into local communities through generous donations to charities throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley throughout 2022.
“As a credit union, we are about people, not profits. And at First Commonwealth, we’re on a mission to empower the pursuit of financial happiness for our members, friends, neighbors and communities in the Greater Lehigh Valley. GIVING BACK and DOING GOOD has come naturally to us since 1959, but this year we are taking our giving to new heights, said Donna LoStocco, President and Chief Executive Officer of First Commonwealth.
Each month, the First Commonwealth FCU WE Thrive Foundation will make generous contributions to local charitable organizations within the following areas of focus: Family & Youth Services; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Homelessness & Housing; Education & Wellness. “As a member-owned financial cooperative, what’s important to our members is important to us. Members will be asked to provide their input to help us determine the charitable organizations we invest in and give to throughout our community”, said LoStocco.
The following three charities have been selected for the first round of donations – Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering; The Literacy Center and Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living.
Even amid a global pandemic, First Commonwealth was able to continue to grow, expand its physical footprint (adding two new financial centers within the last two years), enhance its product and services and digital capabilities and introduce a new level of concierge banking to meet the ever-changing needs of its members. “We take great pride in knowing our family of over 70,000 members and 1,800 employer partners trust First Commonwealth as their financial partner.
