First Community donates over $40,000 to local charities in 2021

BELOIT, WI (January 26, 2022) — During 2021, the employees of First Community Credit Union donated over $40,000 to local charities in the St. Louis Area. For a minimum of $5 (sometimes more), the employees could wear jeans the first Friday of each month throughout the year. Each month was a different charity that was chosen, and the donations to each charity ranged from $1350 to sometimes over $9,000, which was just employee contributions alone.

Some of the charities that were supported were Greater St. Louis Honor Flight, Nurses for Newborns, NICUPS (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Parent Support-Mercy Hospital), Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis, and Friends of Kids with Cancer, to name a few.

“Once again, the employees of First Community stepped up and made a difference. $40,000 is a substantial amount of money that primarily stayed in the area by helping the people around our branches and possibly even some of our member base. I’m extremely proud to be part of such a giving company!” stated President and CEO Glenn Barks.

With these uncertain times, now more than ever donating and giving back to the community is important. First Community continues to uphold the credit union mission of “people helping people” and working continuously to support the communities that they are in.
