First Financial Foundation Announces Applications Now Being Accepted for Erma Dorrer Literary Scholarship
WALL, N.J. (April 17, 2012) – The First Financial Federal Credit Union Foundation (www.firstfinancialfoundation.org) recently announced that it will be awarding six $750 scholarships to undergraduate students who apply on or before May 31, 2012.
Three scholarships will be awarded to First Financial members who will be attending (Fall 2012 Semester) or who are currently attending a 2 or 4 year college anywhere within the country. Three additional scholarships will be awarded to non-members who must attend or will be attending (Fall 2012 Semester) a 2 or 4 year college within Monmouth or Ocean Counties in NJ. There are no age restrictions to apply. However, this scholarship program is open to undergraduate students only, and trade or technical school students will not qualify.
This year, there are two scholarship topics. Applicants may choose to answer one of the following questions:
- How have the recent financial events of 2011 (Wall Street Protest and Bank Transfer Day) affected your opinion of credit unions? What is your perspective in regard to First Financial Federal Credit Union?
- Compare and contrast commercial banks to First Financial and the Credit Union movement.
Applicants can submit either a written essay or video clip to answer the question of their choice. Video clips should be recorded and uploaded to YouTube prior to applying. Creativity is encouraged! Winners will be announced on July 2, 2012.
*To apply, please email your essay or the link to your video to the First Financial Foundation at foundation@firstffcu.com, or you may send a printed copy of your essay, CD or flash drive (these will not be returned to you), and supporting documentation to the First Financial Foundation at PO Box 1172, Toms River NJ 08754. Please be sure to list your contact information on your entry including your full name, address, phone, email, membership status (member or non-member – if you are a member please include your membership number on your application), where you are or will be attending college (Fall 2012 Semester), any volunteer work you participate in, and a copy of either a college acceptance letter, student schedule, or registration confirmation to a 2 or 4 year college.
