First Financial prepares the community for back-to-school success

LUTHERVILLE, MD (August 15, 2019) — Join First Financial Federal Credit Union on August 17thand August 24th for two special back-to-school events benefiting Baltimore and Carroll County Public Schools. With education at the foundation of the credit union, First Financial is committed to delivering much-needed school supplies to ready students and teachers for the 2019-2020 school year.

On Saturday, August 17th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., First Financial representatives will be at the Staples store in Westminster for a school supply drive. All supplies collected will be donated to the students and educators of Carroll County Public Schools (CCPS). There will also be a special appearance from the Oriole Bird from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

To support the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) students and teachers, First Financial is taking part in the annual back-to-school fair known as BCPS Fest. This will take place on August 24th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the White Marsh Mall. In an effort to promote literacy and a love of reading, First Financial, as an organization, collected over 300 books in order to create the Book Nook. The Book Nook is a reading corner where the donated books are available for BCPS students and educators to take home with them. Visit www.bcps.org for more information.

In addition to these events, First Financial provided collection boxes in all branch locations for community members to drop off donations this summer. The donated supplies will go toward assisting CCPS and the Tools for Schools school supply drive, run by the Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools to stock the shelves at the Exchangeree, the new collaborative teacher center.

“As an institution that promotes education and financial literacy, we’re honored to have the opportunity to give back and support the schools in our communities,” said Cindy Jones, Youth Outreach Manager for First Financial. “By alleviating some of the cost of school supplies for students, their families, teachers, and their classrooms, we’re hoping to prepare everyone to be on the right track for a successful upcoming school year.”
