First Financial Federal Credit Union recently presented a $20,000 check to sponsor and support the first-ever initiative for Baltimore County Public School students through the Women’s Leadership Collective at Towson University. The new program will be focused on recognizing and expanding leadership potential among today’s young female scholars.
Attending the donation presentation were BCPS Superintendent Dr. Darryl Williams and Towson University’s Presidential Scholar Dr. Nancy Grasmick, who founded the Women’s Leadership Collective. The Collective helps women develop leadership skills and gain experience throughout their academic and professional lives.
The Collective’s new high school component will work with Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) to identify one female junior from each school who has demonstrated leadership potential and has expressed an interest in expanding their leadership skills to college and beyond. This year-long program will provide the students networking and mentoring opportunities with professional women in the Baltimore area as well as leadership development training on the Towson campus.
“First Financial takes every opportunity we can to assist students in reaching their greatest potential,” remarked First Financial President and CEO Eric Church, “and we’re honored to support this new initiative with the Women’s Leadership Collective and Towson University. Through recognizing the valuable contributions and potential of female scholars, this program will give young women the opportunity and experience to advance their academic and professional careers while building lifelong confidence.”
