LUTHERVILLE, MD (January 22, 2019) — First Financial Federal Credit Union has announced that its own Youth Outreach Manager Cindy Jones has joined the board of directors for the Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools. Jones is a longtime and passionate advocate for Baltimore-area students and teachers has led the credit union’s outreach program for youth initiatives since 1993.
First Financial Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Stephanie Peltzer often describes Jones as a “true champion of youth empowerment” and as an incredibly important member of the credit union’s team. “Cindy is a natural choice for serving as a member on this board,” Peltzer said, “her decades of experience and expertise will prove to be an invaluable asset to the Foundation. I have no doubt Cindy will be a true force on that board and that it will benefit enormously from her contributions.”
As a certified educator in personal finance, Jones is known for spearheading countless successful programs and contributing to ongoing initiatives benefiting area education. Her extensive work in financial literacy and scholarship programs at First Financial add to the volunteer partnership she has already forged with the Foundation, for which she has hosted school supply drives, the BCPSFest, new teacher orientation events, State of the Schools, and Teacher and Principal of the Year programs. Additionally, Jones has an extensive history of community involvement, volunteering for a number of organizations such as Safe Alternative Foundation for Education and My Sister’s Place, among others.
Jones will serve as a member on the board of directors for the Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools to support its work in developing initiatives that emphasize literacy across subject areas to prepare students for college and careers and by promoting a positive culture and climate in every school. The Foundation’s leadership also works to provide scholarships to BCPS students and seeks opportunities for grant funding in order to promote educational quality at the district’s schools.
