First Service Credit Union purchases site for Spring branch
Will open branch at 8640 Spring Cypress Road, following renovation
HOUSTON, TX (March 15, 2016) — First Service Credit Union has purchased property and a building in Spring, Texas, and will open its first Spring area branch this summer.
The building, which was previously owned by Trustmark National Bank, will be converted into the credit union’s 11th branch in the Houston area. It is located at 8640 Spring Cypress Road, not far from the newly opened segment of the Grand Parkway.
First Service Credit Union had been looking for a suitable site for expansion into Spring and this location, with an existing building, was a good fit for its needs.
“As one of the strongest credit unions in the Houston area, we are looking to grow and expand and locate branches where we have a large population of existing members as well as people that we know will appreciate the benefits of credit union membership,” explained Dave Bleazard, President of First Service Credit Union.
The credit union opened a branch in Katy in 2015, and is seeking other sites around Houston to accommodate its growth plan, all part of its objective of becoming an $800 million credit union by 2018. First Service had assets of $597 million as of the end of 2015, reflecting 12 percent growth for the year.
The city of Spring’s Architectural Review Committee has approved plans for the renovation of the existing building into a full-service branch, with walk-in and drive-in facilities.
