Former Dexter Credit Union branch in Central Falls to close

SMITHFIELD, RI (August 11, 2016) — Navigant Credit Union will close the former Dexter Credit Union’s Central Falls branch location on Wednesday, Sept. 7, the company announced recently, stating that the closure would allow it to better serve members at Navigant branches already operating in the area.

The company said in a press release that the former Dexter branch, located at 934 Dexter St. in Central Falls, is redundant in Navigant’s branch network, which includes nearby branches at 693 Broad St. in Central Falls and 20 Dexter St. in Pawtucket – each within two miles of the Dexter branch – as well as at 185 Front St. in Lincoln.

“This is an exciting time for Navigant Credit Union as we merge Dexter Credit Union into our growing branch network,” Navigant Credit Union President and CEO Gary Furtado said. “We have a long history serving the community of Central Falls and look forward to extending our services and products to the members of Dexter Credit Union, in convenient and accessible locations.”

The 24-hour drive-up ATM at 934 Dexter St. will remain open. The Broad Street Central Falls branch and drive-up window will open on Saturdays effective Aug. 27, just like all other Navigant Credit Union branches. In addition, Broad Street lobby hours will be expanded effective Aug. 22.

The former Dexter branch at 135 Danielson Pike in Scituate will remain open.

Navigant Credit Union’s merger with Dexter strengthened Navigant Credit Union’s branch network, which includes 15 branch offices in Northern Rhode Island and the East Bay. (The former Dexter Credit Union branch at 135 Danielson Pike in Scituate will remain open as a Navigant Credit Union branch.) The merger brought Navigant’s membership to more than 75,000.
