Four Texas Mayors proclaim ‘Texas Trust Credit Union Day’ to kick off 90th anniversary celebrations

ARLINGTON, TX (May 6, 2026) |

Texas Trust Credit Union kicks off its 90th anniversary with a historic show of diverse regional support. Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, along with the mayors of Grand Prairie, Athens, and San Angelo, are making official proclamations this month declaring a “Texas Trust Credit Union Day” in their respective communities.

The coordinated effort celebrates the credit union’s journey from a 10-member aircraft employee group in 1936 to a $2 billion pillar of the Texas economy. As the home of Texas Trust's headquarters, Arlington is leading the recognition of the institution’s nearly century-long commitment to the state.

“Texas Trust Credit Union is a vital part of the fabric of our city and a true partner in the American Dream,” said Arlington Mayor Jim Ross. “From their strategic investments in our downtown to their historic support for Arlington Collegiate High School, they have shown what it means to be a community-first organization. We are proud to celebrate this 90-year milestone and declare today in their honor.”While Arlington serves as the credit union’s headquarters, the proclamations highlight the credit union's impact across three distinct Texas regions:

North Texas: Grand Prairie leaders recognized the credit union's foundational roots since 1948 and its cultural legacy through the Texas Trust CU Theatre.

East Texas: Athens celebrated the milestone by noting the credit union's expansion through the Henderson County Teachers Federal Credit Union merger and its $1 million giving threshold.

West Texas: San Angelo's proclamation will honor the institution’s "people helping people" philosophy as it continues to grow its presence in the Concho Valley. To celebrate the anniversary, Texas Trust is launching its "90 Random Acts of Kindness" initiative. Throughout the month, employees across all three regions will engage in surprise community service gestures, ranging from sponsoring local teacher grants to supporting mission-driven non-profits.

“Having Mayor Ross and his fellow leaders across Texas join us in this celebration is an incredible honor,” said Jim Minge, CEO of Texas Trust Credit Union. “It reinforces our mission to stay local and give back to the communities that have supported us for 90 years.”
