Warminster, PA – (May 30, 2012) Freedom Credit Union was selected as the organizational recipient of the annual Cynthia Welder Award, named in memory of former MCIU school psychologist and Special Education Supervisor Cynthia Welder. The award, recognizing outstanding contributions to serving children with disabilities, was presented at the May 23, 2012 MCIU Board meeting.

Freedom Credit Union has been a partner with the MCIU for the past seven years, providing special programs and services designed specifically to benefit educators and students. This May, the MCIU and Freedom held the 6th annual Voices of Inspiration Award for Teaching Excellence ceremony, which recognizes and honors twenty-three teacher finalists selected from nominations submitted by students, parents, co-workers, administrators, or school employees.

The Board also recognized the personal contributions of the Marketing Manager for Freedom Credit Union, Kirby Wood. Since 2008, Kirby has served as a Board of Trustee on the MCIU Education Foundation and most recently assumed the role of Foundation president.
