Fremont Federal Credit Union employees donate $7,704 to Ottawa National Wildlife refuge through Jeans for Charity Program

OAK HARBOR, OH (June 26, 2026) |

On Thursday, June 18, Fremont Federal Credit Union proudly presented a $7,704 donation to Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge through its employee-led Jeans for Charity program.

The Jeans for Charity program allows Fremont Federal Credit Union employees to contribute through payroll deductions in exchange for the opportunity to wear jeans at work. Fremont Federal Credit Union then matches employee contributions, doubling the impact of their generosity. Each quarter, employees nominate and vote on a local nonprofit organization to receive the funds raised through their collective contributions.

Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, located along the Lake Erie shoreline, protects more than 10,000 acres of wetlands, forests, grasslands, and aquatic habitats. The refuge plays a vital role in wildlife conservation while providing environmental education, outdoor recreation, and nature experiences for thousands of visitors each year.

"We're honored to support Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge and the important work they do to preserve one of Northwest Ohio's greatest natural resources," said Lori Turner, Community Engagement Manager at Fremont Federal Credit Union. "Their commitment to conservation, education, and environmental stewardship benefits our entire region. This donation reflects our employees' passion for giving back to organizations that make a lasting difference in the communities we serve."

The donation is part of Fremont Federal Credit Union's ongoing commitment to community involvement and employee-driven philanthropy. Since its launch, the Jeans for Charity program has provided financial support to numerous nonprofit organizations across the communities served by the credit union.

"Since launching our Jeans for Charity program, we've donated more than $88,000 back into our communities, an incredible milestone made possible by the generosity of our employees and the credit union's matching contributions," Turner said. "Every dollar represents an investment in local organizations that strengthen the communities we serve, and we're proud to continue making a meaningful difference together."
