Game Time: MY CU Services Partners With Coindexter Club
Award-winning financial literacy program teaches money lessons through online games
MIDDLETOWN, PA (September 3, 2013) — To help credit unions in their efforts to support financial literacy, MY CU Services has partnered with the Coindexter Club, an award-winning program created by Applause Learning, Inc. to teach young kids about earning, saving and spending money.
“This well-regarded, online program teaches children important financial lessons they will use forever,” said Howard Stein, chief operating officer for MY CU Services. “It captures the imagination of kids, and parents love how it makes learning about money fun. The Coindexter Club builds essential skills that will last a lifetime.”
The program helps children ages five to 12 years old by teaching them how to earn, save, spend, manage and invest money. Children create characters, make financial decisions and explore a virtual world – called “Econopolis” – with the help of an innovative professor named Coindexter.
According to Stein, MY CU Services’ agreement with Coindexter allows credit unions to be sponsoring financial institutions of the program, customizing the game by placing their credit union in the city of Econopolis and placing their logo on the city’s ATMs. Also available are customized newsletters, postcards and birthday cards personalized to each young member, as well as promotional and apparel products. The agreement includes discount pricing and special member savings to participating credit unions.
“The Coindexter Club provides age-appropriate activities to help kids understand the value of money. It teaches them about using a wallet, savings accounts, ATMs – all critical lessons for children of all ages,” said Stein. “It’s a great company with great lessons for youngsters, and we’re happy to be its partner.”
