Auburn Hills, MI, September 23, 2011 – Over the past two months, Genisys employees have collected 1,095 stuffed animals for the Collection of Love program, which provides a furry friend to patients in the pediatric ward at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland and to clients of CARE House of Oakland County.
“I’m constantly amazed at the level of support the Genisys team provides to youth and local organizations in our community,” said Jackie Buchanan, Genisys Credit Union Chief Executive Officer. “It’s heart-warming to know that many children will receive a stuffed animal to help them get through a difficult time in their life because of our efforts.”
St. Joseph Mercy Oakland is dedicated to working together to utilize resources that help heal the body, mind and spirit as well as improve the health of our communities. This is shown in their commitment to educational and awareness programs, the extensive array of basic medical care and health services available, and their overall focus in the community.
“We deeply appreciate this generous gift from Genisys employees that not only benefits St. Joseph Mercy Oakland patients and their families, but also those of CARE House whose clients also will be touched by this outpouring of kindness,” said Joy Calloway, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Director of Community Programs and Advocacy.
Over 4,000 individuals are served each year by CARE House programs, which are provided at no cost to the children and families in need of these critical services. Their mission is “to be a leading resource in the prevention of child abuse and neglect, and the protection of children through advocacy, education, intervention, research and treatment, in collaboration with the community.”
“This effort by the Genisys Credit Union family is a wonderful gift,” said Pat Rosen, CARE House of Oakland County Executive Director. “Thank you for being a great community partner and stepping forward to help the children of CARE House.”
