Genisys Credit Union has sponsored many Shelby Township community events this summer including the Stony Creek X-Tri, Play It Safe Academy, Kids Summer Olympics and the Lions Charity Car Show.

The Stony Creek X-Tri, hosted by 3D Racing, kicked off the summer on May 29, 2010 at Stony Creek Metropark. It included a triathlon, duathlon and mountain biking. Thousands of people came out to cheer on the racers at this event.

The Play It Safe Academy was held by the Charter Township of Shelby on July 13-15, 2010, at the Shelby Township Municipal Grounds. Children entering Kindergarten this fall were able to learn about dealing with strangers as well as pedestrian, drug and poison, school bus, fire, seat belt, water, and personal body safety.

Kids Summer Olympics was another event held by the Charter Township of Shelby on July 17, 2010, at Whispering Woods Kiwanis Park. Different events were available for kids ages 3-12 to compete in with awards for the winners in each age group.

The Shelby Township Lions Charity Car Show was held on July 25, 2010 at the historical Packard Proving Grounds. There were 65 classes of classic automobiles on display for classic car enthusiasts. The event is a yearly fundraiser for the club, which is involved in various charitable activities throughout the year.

“It’s been wonderful to participate in so many activities in Shelby Township this summer, and we look forward to many more in the near future,” said Amanda Gerhardt, Shelby Township Branch Manager.

Genisys is also the sponsor of several events during Shelby Week this year including Movie Night on August 13, 2010 and the Children’s Area at the Art Fair on August 14-15, 2010. Stop by and visit us for a fun-filled week of activities for the whole family.
