Genisys Sponsors Marysville Art in the Park

Auburn Hills, MI, September 1, 2011 – Genisys Credit Union was the Presenting Sponsor for the 19th Annual Marysville Art in the Park on August 20-21, 2011 in Marysville City Park.
“Being able to view different forms of artwork on display from local artists with picturesque views of the St. Clair River in the background makes for a great event,” said Jackie Buchanan, Chief Executive Officer.
Genisys also partnered with Sam’s Club and brought several volunteers to assist in the Children’s Art Tent on Sunday. Hundreds of children visited the area to decorate cookies, build and paint bird houses, design sand art bracelets and sketch or paint their own original artwork.
Many different Michigan artists exhibited their work while Marysville High School art students displayed a variety of art forms from class.
“It’s always amazing to see all of the talented young artists we have in the area,” said Kathy Sheldon, Marysville Branch Manager. “The event seems to attract more people from the community each year.”
The weekend festivities also included car shows, entertainment and a juried show with prizes. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Gayle Pope Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is given to a Marysville High School art student.
