Auburn Hills, MI, June 28, 2011 – Genisys Credit Union sponsored the 12th annual Macomb Township Parks and Recreation Department’s Tons O’ Trucks and Wheeled Wonders event on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at St. John’s Hospital. Genisys also provided the ever-popular face painting booth and Piston’s Hoops Truck.

“We’re proud to have once again held our annual Tons O’ Trucks and Wheeled Wonders event, which was generously sponsored by Genisys Credit Union and hosted by St. John’s Hospital,” said Michelle Duda, Macomb Township Parks and Recreation Department Program Leader. “We aim to have a wide variety of vehicles and other kid-friendly entertainment – a little something special for everyone.”

The event provided the community the opportunity to get “up close and personal” to many unique and exciting vehicles that they may otherwise only see from afar.

Between 5,000 to 6,000 people attended the festivities this year with over 200 volunteers on hand to help make this year’s event a success. Shuttle buses were constantly on the move, carting busloads of visitors to and from overflow parking.

“This event attracts a large number of people to the Macomb community and is a great way for families to spend the day together,” said Jackie Buchanan, CEO.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Department not only provided countless vehicles, horses and a K9 unit, but they also provided the highlight, a helicopter that landed on site in the middle of the event.

A racecar that was actually racing only hours after the event ended was also on hand for people to see.
