Genisys Walks For Warmth

Auburn Hills, MI, March 1, 2011 – Genisys Credit Union was a platinum sponsor and exceeded their goal by raising nearly $31,000 this year for Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency’s (OLHSA) Walk For Warmth. Genisys staff raised money through donations and selling stuffed penguins, electronic devices, gift baskets, raffles and other fundraisers.

“It’s amazing to see the level of dedication our members and Genisys staff have toward this cause,” said Jackie Buchanan, CEO. “Each year, our staff comes up with generous and innovative ways to raise money, which helps local families stay warm.”

The event was held on February 27, 2011 at the Palace of Auburn Hills. A group of over 150 Genisys employees, family members and friends volunteered their time to walk and/or assist with the event. A Genisys Kiddie Court area was available for children during the walk complete with balloon creations, face painting, games and prizes. The Genisys Band was also on hand to perform songs customized for the event.

“Walk for Warmth is a success for our community because the citizens of our community are the ones giving back – it’s people helping people,” said Ron Borngessor, OLHSA CEO. “We are fortunate to have Genisys Credit Union on our side and believing what we believe: that the people make the difference.”

100% of the proceeds raised will go toward helping heat the homes of families in need throughout Oakland County.
