GEORGETOWN, SC (June 9, 2016) — From the tiny trailer at the IP Mill in Georgetown, roots were planted for a financial cooperative. Today we are pleased to announce that from those roots, a new branch is coming. In order to better serve our members, as well as welcome new members to the credit union difference, GKCU is pleased to announce the following promotions and new employees to our staff:
Three new branch managers have been named for GKCU. The branch manager is responsible for the daily oversight of operations for the branch, including staffing and member services. Sharon Brown will be the branch manager for the new GKCU office located at 1379 N. Fraser Street in Georgetown. She will oversee the opening of the branch, which will also house the management team, the Operations and Loan Recovery Departments, the Call Center and IT Department. The new branch is expected to open in August. Brown has been the branch manager of the Pawleys Island office for the past 10 years and is well-experienced in her leadership role, bringing a wealth of knowledge, expertise and smiles to the new location.
In the Pawleys Island office, Tammy Swails has been named Branch Manager. A loan officer with GKCU for the past 8 years, Tammy is knowledgeable in both the lending and member services areas of the credit union. She will oversee the staff and continue the high level of member service currently delivered to GKCU members.
At the Bourne Street location, Joni Howell has been name Branch Manager and assumes her role upon retirement of current branch manager. Howell, returning back to GKCU after moving away, resumes her leadership role with overseeing and continuing the day-to-day operations for the mill employees, residents in Maryville and surrounding neighborhoods.
Handling members needs with account opening, adding additional services or applying for loans, GKCU’s Loan Officers and Member Service Representatives have been named for the following offices: Georgetown (Fraser Street): Shannon Carroll and Melissa Poindexter; Andrews: Kimberly Birt; Kingstree: Anna Eaddy and Pawleys Island: Tara Squires.
New tellers have joined the GKCU staff to serve members with their day-to-day financial needs, including, but not limited to, account deposits and withdrawals, loan payments and account services. In Georgetown (Fraser Street) Betsy Cusack (promoted to Sr. Head Teller); Georgetown (Bourne Street): Lauren Shaw (promoted to Head Teller) and Elizabeth Fort; Andrews: Jessica McCarren (Head Teller) and Jasmine Grant; Kingstree: Heather Cox and Melody McFadden; Pawleys Island: Tony McRae (promoted to Head Teller), Brittany James and Miracle Deas.
