Georgia United Credit Union announces promotion of Shawn Turpin to Senior Vice President

DULUTH, GA (January 15, 2014) -- Georgia United Credit Union is pleased to announce the promotion of Shawn Michael Turpin to Senior Vice President.   In his new role, Shawn will be responsible for the sales and service delivery channels for Georgia United, including all branches and the member care call center.

Shawn Turpin joined Georgia United as Vice President of Branch Operations in June, 2012 where he was responsible for the leadership and development of Georgia United’s retail team comprising 15 branches and 130 associates located across Northern Georgia. He has 18 years of combined retail, business and commercial banking experience.

Prior to joining Georgia United, Shawn served as Vice President of Commercial Banking for KeyWorth Bank from July 2008. Prior to joining the successful de novo venture, Shawn spent the bulk of his career with IronStone Bank from April 1997 to June 2008. He served in multiple roles throughout the years including Senior Vice President for Commercial Banking and Retail Banking Manager, where he oversaw the branch network and associates.

Shawn is involved in the community and currently serves on the Board of Directors for GA RESource Capital, a Certified Development Company, specializing in the SBA 504 Loan Program. Shawn is the past Chairman and was a longtime Board Member of The IMPACT! Group, a 501(c)3 nonprofit community development corporation serving greater Atlanta and specializing in transitional housing needs and homeownership education. Shawn is a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Finance.
