Duluth, GA – May 11, 2012 – When Georgia United Credit Union first announced their CAN HUNGER plans to collect at least 4 tons of food (9,000 cans) for local food banks in the communities they serve, they really didn’t know what to expect in this economy.  But, credit union members and employees really came through and Georgia United collected DOUBLE their projected amount at 9.1 tons (18,375 cans) of non-perishable food items through their 16 branch locations during March & April.

Additional cash donation totaling $2795.00 were also accepted and are currently being distributed to the designated food banks. As an added incentive, all members were entered into a drawing for an iPad with every can that they donated. The iPad drawing took place from among all entries received by May 1.  The lucky winner was Phillip Rice from Ringgold, Georgia, who donated at Georgia United’s Dalton Branch.
