Girl Scouts visit Peach State Federal Credit Union’s Abbeville branch to earn financial literacy badge

Abbeville, SC (May 22, 2026) |

Peach State Federal Credit Union recently welcomed a local Girl Scout troop to its Abbeville Branch for a hands-on financial education experience to help the scouts earn their financial literacy badge.

During the visit, scouts toured the branch, learned about the difference between a credit union and bank, and explored important money management topics like budgeting and savings accounts versus checking accounts. The troop was also introduced to a few key banking terms and practical financial tips that can be helpful as they grow up.

“As a credit union founded by educators, financial literacy has always been an important part of our mission,” said Kerri Donald, Chief Risk Officer. “We were thrilled to host these Girl Scouts and help them build a stronger understanding around money so they can develop financial confidence at an early age.”

The experience gave the scouts the opportunity to ask questions and gain a better understanding about how building responsible financial habits early on can help to achieve their goals. Peach State FCU remains committed to financial wellness and education throughout the communities it serves by supporting local youth programs, school partnerships, scholarships, hosting financial literacy classes, and other community outreach initiatives.
