BEAUMONT, TX (August 19, 2013) -- Member Judith Arceneaux never expected to leave the credit union with a free set of car keys, but it happened Thursday morning at DuPont Goodrich FCU (DuGood).
Arceneaux is the elated winner of a new eco-friendly car thanks to the credit union’s “There’s No Place Like DuGood” campaign. During May – July, members who financed any loan for any amount received a chance to win one of three “green” prizes.
Arceneaux was joined in the winner’s circle by Loddie Valka, who went home with a $2,500 energy efficient appliance package, and Herman Fontenot, the lucky recipient of $500 cash.
The trio of members was surrounded by family, friends, DuGood employees, and the KFDM 6 News team in an early morning celebration. Anchors Dan Greshman and James Ware announced the winner of each prize live on the air.
The “There’s No Place Like DuGood” campaign is part of the credit union’s commitment to giving back to members and the environment. Last year, DuGood began heavily promoting paperless products like Bill Pay and eStatements to reduce waste. They are continuing their efforts in 2013 by hosting a free Shred Week and helping with local cleanup efforts at the beach and in the communities they serve.
According to DuGood staff, “going green” is not only beneficial to the environment; it is helpful to members as well. It allows the credit union to save money on printing and mailing costs. This saved money is returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher dividends on savings, free products, and incentives like the ones given away during the “There’s No Place Like DuGood campaign.
