Staff from Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) took time out on Sunday, November 20th to help the less fortunate.
The “Giving Dinner” was hosted at the Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago, IL, in partnership with the Lake County Forest Preserve District, and offered a free holiday buffet to approximately 300 low-income and homeless individuals who were encouraged to attend by local missions and shelters. Live entertainment, games and storytelling for the kids, and singing performances were provided for those who might otherwise have no hot meal, companionship or celebration during the holidays.
Many coats, hats, gloves and warm clothing items generously donated by GLCU members and staff as part of their “Warmth Drive” were distributed to all individuals and families who were in need.
In the continuing harsh economic climate, GLCU staff felt privileged to be able to give back to struggling individuals and families and receive a smile or gesture of gratitude in return.
