Global awards $500 to contest winner and $500 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation

SPOKANE, WA (April 8, 2014) – On March 31, Global announced April Dyer as the winner of their Spot Global contest in which participants posted pictures to the credit union’s Facebook page of a Global sighting in the community for the chance to win $500 for themselves and $500 for a charity of their choice.

Global determined that the winner of the month long contest would be selected by the photo that received the most likes by 5pm PST on March 31.

April Dyer, a member of Global’s Vicenza branch in Italy, posted the photo of her softball team at their bake sale and car wash fundraiser. The photo received 228 likes and was shared 56 times, making her the winner.

As an advocate of breast cancer awareness, April selected The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to be the recipient of $500 as her charitable organization of choice. April says, "The Vicenza Women's Softball Team is playing this year to raise money and awareness for breast cancer because everyone on the team knows someone who's battled this disease and is committed in supporting the fight to end it."

With the message that Global is everybody’s credit union, the organization encourages people to become Global Citizens by being active participants in their community and leaving the world a better place. The Global Citizen theme highlights the credit union’s active support of select charitable causes, local artists and musicians, small businesses and organizations
