Golden 1 Credit Union donates $100,000 to California State University food and basic need programs for Giving Tuesday

Credit Union supports college students in need during season of giving

SACRAMENTO, CA (November 28, 2023) — Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) today announced it is contributing $100,000 toward California State University (CSU) food and basic need programs in support of Giving Tuesday. The funds, nearly doubling from last year’s donation, will help provide college students access to food and essentials as nearly one in three California college students faces food insecurity, according to the California Student Aid Commission.

“Golden 1 is proud to support all CSU food pantries in their critical efforts to give every student the chance to succeed without the fear of food insecurity,” said Erica Taylor, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations at Golden 1 Credit Union. “Student hunger is too often a direct hurdle for students pursuing higher education and it’s a privilege for Golden 1 to contribute to this essential support system for students facing hardship.”

Since 2012, Golden 1 has donated more than $700,000 to numerous food banks across California that provide essentials to families and individuals in need. Whether through food bank donations, Giving Tuesday, Big Day of Giving, grant, or scholarship programs, Golden 1 is committed to investing in organizations making a positive impact in communities across the state.
