Golden 1 Credit Union donates more than $50,000 to food banks across California during Giving Tuesday

Credit union continues its season of giving with its largest food bank donation to date

Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) announced it is donating more than $50,000 to 26 food banks throughout California today, Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is a day when people around the world give back to their community in some way. This year, Golden 1 added an additional five food banks to its distribution list, providing aid to food banks in the Sacramento Valley, San Joaquin Valley, Bay Area, Central Coast, and other counties throughout Northern and Southern California.

“Golden 1 is committed to making a positive impact on the communities we serve, and we are proud to support organizations that work to provide help to the hungry today, Giving Tuesday, and year-round,” said Erica Taylor, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations. “With these donations, we are able to offer much-needed food assistance to our neighbors in need.”

Giving back is the cornerstone of Golden 1. Since 2011, the Credit Union has donated more than $400,000 to California food banks. To date, Golden 1 has also awarded $2.7 million in college scholarship funds and provided $3.2 million in grants to local nonprofits that support foster youth and literacy. Just two weeks ago, Golden 1 announced giving $20 million back in deposits to more than a million customer accounts.
