First Financial Federal Credit Union has awarded $159,000 in scholarships to 53 graduating seniors from Baltimore and Carroll County Public Schools as well as private schools within its field of membership.
First Financial established a scholarship program in 1998 to recognize the academic achievements of young adults in the local community. In its 24th year, scholarships totaling $2.2 million have been awarded to over 700 hardworking students.
“It’s a privilege to support these young scholars who are on the road to success,” said First Financial President/CEO Eric Church. “As a credit union founded in education, we are committed to helping students achieve their educational goals and aspirations, and empowering them to reach their greatest potential.”
To qualify for the scholarship, First Financial’s student members were required to submit an application, transcripts, references, and a written essay. Finalists were selected by the credit union’s volunteer-based Scholarship Committee. The students receiving a scholarship were recognized at the credit union’s 69th Annual Meeting on April 21, 2022.
