Great Lakes Credit Union employees hand pack 42,768 life-saving meals

BANNOCKBURN, IL (November 8, 2016) — On November 2, 2016, 36 employee volunteers from Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) hand-packed 42,768 life-saving meals at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). The event took place at two FMSC MobilePack™ locations (555 Exchange Court, Aurora, IL 60504 and 742 East Park Avenue, Libertyville, IL 60048).

GLCU’s volunteers labeled bags, sorted boxes, and hand-packed rice meals filled with nutrients to sustain famished children around the world. Their support secured a year’s supply of food for 117 children!

When asked about the experience, Yvonne Bailey, GLCU’s SVP/COO expressed, “Everything comes into perspective when you learn of the poor conditions in third world countries and the dire hunger some of these children experience. I am grateful for my comfortable life in the USA and will never again feel disgruntled about my lot in life. I was so glad to be able to join so many of my work colleagues from Great Lakes Credit Union in assisting in a small way to relieve some of the suffering of these children. I am also so proud to work for an employer who truly understands the meaning of “people helping people”.”
