Great River Federal Credit Union COO named Prodigy’s 2024 GAC Scholarship Winner

First-timer will travel to DC for as part of Prodigy’s educational efforts

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (January 16, 2024)Shelly Janorschke-Nagel, COO of the $364.2 million Great River Federal Credit Union in Minnesota is getting the opportunity to attend her first Governmental Affairs Conference, hosted by America’s Credit Unions in Washington, D.C., March 3-7. Prodigy, the leading core processing and private cloud Credit Union Service Organization, provides the sponsorship opportunity every year, leading its business following the 8 Cooperative Principles for Credit Unions, the fifth of which is education, training and information.

“The credit union movement and philosophy has played an instrumental role in why I’ve remained in this industry for nearly two decades,” Janorschke-Nagel said. “I want to participate in the GAC because it’s important that lawmakers hear about the difference credit unions make every day as we learn the stories of our members, and through those stories I hope to advocate, educate, and support initiatives that improve our members financial wellbeing.”

“We believe in the Cooperative Principles, especially cooperation among cooperatives and education and training opportunities,” Prodigy CEO Amber Harsin said. “Credit union leaders should not miss out on incredible educational and networking opportunities simply because their credit union lacks the resources. I’m very excited to have Shelly in DC with me as we meet with other credit union leaders, learn about the issues of the day and fill Capitol Hill with credit union power!

Credit unions and their leaders must constantly learn and evolve to remain relevant for American consumers, and the legislation and regulation coming out of Washington can have a huge impact on credit union operations, policies and procedures. to ensure its cloud-based core platform remains relevant – and so do its credit unions. As such, despite having one of the most modern core processing platforms on the market already, Prodigy announced core upgrades this fall to its platform that will take place over the next couple of years to ensure its platform continues to help credit unions remain relevant.
