Greater Nevada Credit Union Thanks Employees

Annual event celebrates exceptional service and year-round team building

(CARSON CITY, Nevada) December 19, 2012— Hiring and retaining an outstanding staff is essential to any business’s success. This fall, Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU) hosted its annual company-wide employee appreciation and training event, thanking the 170 individuals who work there for keeping GNCU named one of the “Best Financial Institutions” and “Best Places to Work” year after year.

“Credit unions are about people,” said GNCU President and CEO, Wally Murray. “We strive to employ individuals who are dedicated to serving not only our members, but also the communities in which they live. It’s a culture that we believe in, and one that has helped us forge ahead, even in challenging times.”

The employee appreciation event has become a tradition, focusing on individual employee accomplishments, as well as outstanding contributions by branch and department teams. Length of service is also recognized, and highly valued by an organization that was founded in Carson City, Nevada in 1949 and has expanded throughout northern Nevada since then. This year, 24 employees were recognized for reaching five, 10, and 15 years of service.

However, the meeting serves another purpose: to share business goals with all levels of staff collectively, and discuss how each employee plays a key role in achieving those goals.

Geri Carlson, a member services representative at GNCU’s Minden branch, has attended every annual employee meeting. “I’ve worked at GNCU for 17 years and always look forward to this event. It’s both fun and informative, and it helps me do a better job because I understand the direction we’re headed and how I fit into the journey.”
