Greater Nevada once again named USDA National Lender of the Year

Credit Union increases its lending obligations by nearly 400% year over year

For the second year in a row, Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU) was named the National Lender of the Year by the Unites States Department of Agriculture (USDA). In 2017 GNCU obligated more than $472 million in loans, all guaranteed by the agency’s programs, representing a nearly 400% increase over loan obligations from 2016. In Nevada alone, GNCU obligated $320,830,000 in guaranteed loans.

The award was presented to GNCU by Ann Hazlett, Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development, on October 16, 2017 at the National Rural Lender’s Association Conference in Washington, D.C., during part of USDA’s observance of National Cooperatives Month.

“Greater Nevada Credit Union is honored to serve our rural communities,” said Jeremy Gilpin, Vice President of Greater Nevada Credit Union Commercial Services.  “With the help of our credit union and banking partners across the United States, GNCU was able again this year to create and/or save 1,500 jobs totaling $120 million in payroll on an annual basis.  These programs are critical to keeping rural America vibrant and strong.”
