Twenty-three-year-old Carson Clark claimed the $1,000 prize from Greater Texas Credit Union’s Grocery Giveaway.
The Austin-based credit union sponsored the Grocery Giveaway to help offset the high cost of groceries. Members received a Giveaway entry each time they used their Greater Texas debit or credit card to buy groceries during July. Members’ combined purchases exceeded $7,806,885 in groceries that month.
Clark, who recently moved to Austin from the Dallas area, used her Greater Texas card to buy groceries 12 times in July. Her name was randomly selected from more than 158,280 eligible entries.
“Moving often leads to a spike in grocery costs when you have to replenish fresh and frozen food, which makes this particular award more meaningful to Carson,” said Sidney Henderson, Vice President of Marketing for Greater Texas Credit Union. “We are thrilled that our Grocery Giveaway will allow her to stock up at her new home.”
Henderson added, “While Carson may be new to Austin, she’s been a loyal member of our credit union since 2015, banking with us through our branches in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.”
