Greater TEXAS FCU Awards B.E.S.T. College Night Scholarships to Local Area High School Students

Bastrop, TX – Graduating Seniors from Bastrop, Elgin and Smithville High School were awarded their 2011 B.E.S.T. Scholarship checks from Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union (GTFCU) on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at their respective high school.

The scholarship recipients received $500 each to go towards furthering their education and their college tuition. The winning students were Samantha Moore, Bastrop High School; Colin Ashby, Elgin High School; and Megan Spears, Smithville High School.

Bastrop, Elgin and Smithville Seniors submitted applications at last year’s 2011 B.E.S.T. (Bastrop, Elgin, Smithville, Texas) College Night, underwritten and sponsored by GTFCU and held in Bastrop, Texas. The scholarship winners were chosen through a panel of judges and credit union representatives.

The 2012 B.E.S.T. College Night date has been set for Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Bastrop High School Cafeteria. This year’s scholarship applicants will include the first class of seniors from the new Cedar Creek High School.

This is just one of many ways that Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union has become an active part in the B.E.S.T. community by supporting students and partnering in the furthering of their education and their future.
