GTE Financial helps members get healthier and wealthier

TAMPA, FL (January 28, 2014) -- GTE Financial aims to help members keep their New Year’s resolution of a healthier lifestyle by launching their free and exclusive GTE Get Fit program. Using a unique web platform powered by Walkmore, GTE Get Fit tracks steps and other physical activities and rewards achievements in the form of cash as well as discounts at local retail stores and restaurants.

“We started brainstorming new and value-added ways we could benefit the community as a financial institution,” says Joe Brancucci, GTE Financial president and CEO. “We came up with GTE Get Fit to reward members for being healthy and active, using gamification as a fun motivational tool. We already teach our employees and members about the healthy ways to manage their finances, so why not encourage and reward healthy lifestyles at the same time?”

Members with a free GTE checking account are eligible to sign up for the GTE Get Fit program. By downloading any of the multiple apps that track physical activity, such as RunKeeperTM or FitBitTM, steps are translated into points and then redeemable for rewards.

Founder and CEO of Walkmore, Eli Mohamad, says, "We are happy to work with GTE Financial to provide a more holistic approach to the financial and physical health of their members. Positive behaviors should be rewarded, and GTE’s Get Fit program runs on Walkmore’s platform that enables members to get rewarded literally for every step they make."

One of the easiest ways to earn Get Fit points is to sign up for the 2014 Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic from Feb. 21-23. GTE Financial is a sponsor of the Corporate & Open Team Challenge, and participating GTE members can get a free swag bag and a chance to grab cash in the Money Booth, all while earning Get Fit points.

Current rewards offer members discounts at Fresh Go, Running Center Tampa Bay, Tampa Muay Thai, Klynergy Massage and Wellness, Nutrishop, Street Fit 360 Bicycle & Fitness, Splitsville, On Target Golf Schools, Glazer’s Children’s Museum and Urban Kai Standup Paddle boarding.
