Hanscom FCU celebrates 70th Anniversary of U.S. Air Force
HANSCOM AFB, MA (October 10, 2017) — Hanscom Federal Credit Union joined a list of sponsors supporting the Air Force Anniversary Ball in Burlington, Massachusetts. The event was held at the Boston Marriott on September 15, 2017, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force. Attendees included a number of military dignitaries, including many from Hanscom Air Force Base.
“It’s an honor to be part of this celebration,” said Hanscom FCU board chairman Paul Marotta, one of seven toastmasters for the evening. “For the past seventy years, men and women have shared their dedication and talents to build the U.S. Air Force to be second to none. It’s important to take time to recognize these contributions.”
Following World War II, American leaders realized the need to strengthen the structure of the country’s military forces and prioritize the growing dependence on air power. Among the changes made was the establishment of the U.S. Air Force on September 18, 1947, recognizing it as a defense division equal to the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.
