Hanscom FCU’s Matthew Francis chosen to “Crash the GAC”

HANSCOM AFB, MA (February 26, 2021)

Hanscom Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that Matthew Francis has been selected to attend Crash the GAC 2021 by The Cooperative Trust and Credit Union National Association (CUNA) to represent Massachusetts.

“It was an honor to be nominated for a scholarship, and I’m excited that I’ll be attending the conference as a Crasher,” said Francis, the manager of Hanscom FCU’s MITRE Bedford branch in Bedford, MA. “It’s an incredible opportunity and I’m looking forward to the experience of learning how I can be a better champion for the credit union movement.”

Crash the GAC gives credit union professionals under the age of 35 (or “35 at heart”) the chance to attend the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) on March 2-4. Crashers will hear and learn from credit union executives and thought leaders from across the country, including influential legislators, policymakers, and credit union experts on the political landscape and its effect on credit unions.

“We have a legacy of sending our finest young professionals to Crash the GAC,” said Ray Phillips, Hanscom FCU’s chairman of the board. “Matt is something of a superstar in his career with us, and we’re so pleased that the scholarship committee recognizes his outstanding leadership qualities.”

CUNA provides Crashers with a complimentary registration fee to attend the conference, which this year will be virtual due to COVID-19 restrictions. This year, Francis was among the 50 Crashers chosen to receive a scholarship.
