CHESTERFIELD, MO (December 5, 2017) — NewGround, a St. Louis-based experiential design-build firm, congratulates Hawaii State Federal Credit Union (FCU) for receiving the prestigious Design Award from the Building Industry Association (BIA) for their Hawaii Kai branch. Each year, BIA’s Renaissance Building & Remodeling Awards recognizes excellence in the building and renovation industry. The project was judged on creativity, sustainability, functionality, interior space, material used, overall quality, principals of design, value, visual appeal, and workmanship.
Recognizing the importance of modernizing their branches, Hawaii State FCU partnered with NewGround as their partner for the Hawaii Kai branch remodel. This newly renovated 2,780 square foot branch was thoughtfully designed to showcase an open plan by creating full-height modular wall systems for the offices to bring in natural light throughout the space while also providing privacy. As part of the design, the way the space was staffed changed by implementing a new experiential universal banker platform. In place of the traditional teller line, a low profile ‘cash bar’ removes the conventional barriers between members and tellers, providing a more personal touch. A technology bar was implemented for staff to assist members in understanding how to navigate their website, to complete mobile deposits, and receive paperless statements on the device they prefer.
