Heritage Community Credit Union (HCCU), a northern California and member-based financial services provider— and Kasasa, an awardwinning financial technology and marketing provider—today announced the winner of the
local “These Are My People” contest. Victoria, an HCCU member, was awarded $2,500 to help support her human connection with one of her favorite persons.
Kasasa’s “These Are My People” contest accepted applications from November 7th through December 7th and provided entrants with the opportunity to share personal stories and how the prize money might help them connect with their loved ones.
Inspirational stories flooded in from entrants across Sacramento, Placer, Yolo, San Joaquin and El Dorado counties on how winning could impact their lives this holiday season. HCCU’s local contest was part of a larger nationwide initiative that included more than 150 community financial institutions, with some offering cash prizes to their local community members. Additionally, Kasasa awarded one grand prize winner with $25,000 and two runner up contestants with $10,000. In total, participating community banks and credit unions were awarded over $150,000 in cash prizes.
“The holiday season is about love and sharing it with those we call our people,” said Gabe Krajicek, CEO of Kasasa. “This contest celebrated the incredible, loving individuals that create the fabric of their community. It’s this same network that our community financial institution partners across the country play such a vital part in - helping people stand strong in their financial world so they can stand strong for those they love the most.”
“We enjoyed this partnership in delivering the $2,500 surprise to Victoria, a member of HCCU since 1989,” said Heritage Community Credit Union CEO, Ed Turk. “With this added holiday cheer, Victoria was able to gift an iPad Pro to her hard working and well-deserving daughter. Seeing the joy brought to this family was a heartening privilege.”
