NEWBURGH, IN (January 13, 2014) -- Heritage Federal Credit Union is pleased to have been a proud sponsor/partner with 103 local non-profit organizations in 2013. The credit union donated funding and/or in-kind gifts of over $205,000 to these organizations and volunteered over 2,100 hours in order to support their various worthwhile causes in the community.
Heritage Federal Credit Union’s 2013 People Helping People Community Service Program supported the Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties through the efforts of employees, board of directors, family and friends volunteering personal time and talents to 57 community organizations. Over 127 individuals volunteered more than 2,100 hours to local community organizations over the course of 2013.
Ruth Jenkins, CCE, President and CEO of Heritage Federal Credit Union said, “Credit unions are rooted in the philosophy of ‘People Helping People,’ and I am so proud that Heritage Federal Credit Union maintains strong ties to this philosophy. Not only are our employees and volunteer board of directors highly involved in giving back to the community, but many encourage their friends and families to volunteer as well, sharing the ‘People Helping People’ philosophy beyond the walls of the Credit Union. These 2,100 hours were volunteered during nonbusiness hours, in the evenings and on weekends, which means these volunteers gave up their personal time to support local organizations and the individuals they serve.”
