Hiway appoints Sophia Xiong-Yang as Associate Board Member

ST. PAUL, MN (December 18, 2018) — The Board of Directors at Hiway Federal Credit Union® (Hiway) appointed Sophia Xiong-Yang as their first Associate Board Member.

“Hiway’s new Associate Director Program allows our Board to prepare volunteers for future leadership opportunities,” said Patrick McGuiness, Board Chair. “We are very excited to have Sophia as our first Associate Director and have her experience and perspective in the board room to contribute to Hiway’s continued success.”

Sophia has been a Hiway member for more than 24 years. She works for the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) as the Diversity and Inclusion Training Operations Coordinator in the Office of Equity and Diversity. She currently serves on the Asian Employee Resource Group Committee and the Health and Wellness Committee at MnDOT. In past years Sophia has also served as Treasurer and Chair of Empowering Hmong Women Incorporated, Treasurer of the Women’s Ministry for the Hmong Unity Christian Church, board member for Asian Media Access and the Dragon Festival Event Committee at MnDOT.
